FASHION WEEK COLUMBUS RESPONDS TO BREAKING NEWS ABOUT

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK - COVID-19

 COLUMBUS, OH – August 28, 2020,

Fashion Week Columbus responds to breaking news: Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced New York Fashion Week (September 13-17, 2020) is in strict compliance with New York State health and safety guidelines, including outdoor events capped at 50 persons and indoor events at 50 percent capacity.

The Columbus Fashion Council and the Fashion Week Columbus team also understand the importance of following health and safety guidelines for Fashion Week Columbus (September 20th - 26th), having already implemented strict protocols put forth by the State of Ohio for the pre-production events with temperature checks, wellness forms, registration, required masks, social distancing, minimal and essential participants. The 11th Annual Fashion Week Columbus Finale Runway Show on September 26th will follow the same protocols, as it is the organization's priority for all participants to feel safe while supporting our local designers and fashion community. FWC’s Finale Runway Show will also offer an engaging and innovative virtual streaming, where people all over the country can support our designers and fashion community from the comfort of their own homes. A $50 donation to the non-profit organization would give guests a front row seat to the virtual Finale Runway Show as well as backstage access to virtually hang out with the designers, models, and production crew. Donations are now being accepted at www.FashionWeekColumbus.org.

“Fashion Week Columbus helps fuel a critical part of our local economy as it highlights the designers, models, and small businesses working to advance the fashion and creative industries in Columbus and beyond”, said Columbus City Councilmember Shayla Favor. “Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, I’m thrilled to see Fashion Week Columbus continue in 2020 following the recommended health and social distancing protocols to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone involved.”

“As we move through this pandemic, we must continue to support our local artists, small businesses, and students through the Fashion Week Columbus platform. Together, we will all get through this. We support our friends at New York Fashion Week (with a line up including last year’s Fashion Week Columbus Headline Designer Christian Cowan), and we can’t wait to see their collections inspire us from their runways...while following health & safety protocols. Continuing with Fashion Week during this pandemic brings hope for a better tomorrow”, said Thomas McClure, founder/executive director of the Columbus Fashion Council.
